TOP50STL Restaurant of the Week: Fozzie’s Sandwich Emporium
I’ve been a fan of Fozzie’s Sandwich Emporium since they opened (around 2009-10, I think). I was busy earning my MBA at Washington University around that time. Fozzie’s was on my way to school, so I had the chance to drop by many times. I also had the chance to introduce several of my classmates to the eatery. I love going to new restaurants, but I also like to introduce others to new places as well.
What originally caught my eye about Fozzie’s was the number of items I recognized from the Travel Channel’s food episodes. There are so many iconic restaurants and food specialties around the country, but it’s highly unlikely I’ll be able to visit them all, so it’s great to know Fozzie’s has items like the Juicy Lucy, The King (an homage to Mr. Presley) and a Chicago-style hot dog. The first time I visited, I ordered The King which has peanut butter, bacon and bananas on sourdough bread. What an adventure! Every time I go back I order something different because I want to try everything on the menu.
Also, when I stopped by last week, they were selling Fozzie’s Wacha Wacha shirts…….and that’s just awesome.
